Snow-Covered Glass Dome

Winter has become oppressive here in Chicago, and the snow-covered glass dome of the Mansueto Library at the University of Chicago captures that rather well. Surely the architect didn't envision this? I happened to drive by there yesterday morning, after a fresh snowfall overnight, and snow-covered dome struck me so much that I parked the car and took a few shots until my hands hurt from operating the smartphone at 10F. For sure that snow didn't melt off since temperatures stayed in the teens, and the sun didn't come out either. It must have made for a dark reading room inside. As I was saying: oppressive.

  1. From the inside of a heated room I can forget that white that awaits me outside. And from here your dome is beautiful.

    1. Thank you. Sometimes it is nice to forget that white.
